We ended up with Dr Z because he was highly recommended by Stacey and her mother, and because they did some lobbying on our behalf (he wsn't taking new patients at that time). He is a great doctor - relaxed, polite, knowledgeable, confident, and, did I say, relaxed. Here's how a typical office visit goes.
The arms of the chairs in the waiting area touch each other. If you don't get a seat with an empty seat next to it, you have to do the whole airplane armrest thing. The wait is usually as long as a longish domestic flight. The reading material is exclusively for pregnant mothers and new parents (understandably). No Sports Illustrated, but hey, throw me a SkyMall at least. The muzak - arghhh - I'd kill for Barry Manilow.
We eventually get called in. Jo hops on the thing with stirrups (though the stirrups are folded down). The tech acts a little surprised when she sees Jo's belly (like - huh, she's pregnant?), but perhaps its her professional schtick. She has some pre-defined questions ("Did you have any contractions..?"). By the third one, she's forgotten which ones she has asked already and we help her out. Then she slposhes
